ESOS deadline has passed……but it’s not too late!

The ESOS deadline has now passed. Organisations were required to notify the Environment Agency that a Lead Assessor has been appointed and had signed off their ESOS compliance before the 5th December 2015.

However, for those organisations that didn’t make the deadline, a lifeline has been thrown. If they notify the environment agency using the ‘intent to comply form’ then no enforcement action will be taken until 29 January 2016.

The Environment agency reports that 4000 organisations have now completed the ESOS process with a further 2500 having used the delay notification form and who intended to comply by 29th January 2016.

The Environment agency point out that technically the deadline has not changed, it is just a loosening of the way they view the enforcement.

Organisations fall within the scope of ESOS when they employ over 250 people or turnover £38m. Most organisations we’ve helped through ESOS the ESOS process have identified savings that have the potential to pay year on year. And in conjunction with the heat metering regulations, have the potential to measure and actually realise a financial again over a long period of time.

We break down what PPN 006 really demands—and how smart London law firms are turning compliance into a powerful competitive advantage.

The Carbon Credit Illusion

In the race to become ‘net zero’, more and more companies are turning to carbon credits to offset their emissions. On paper, it sounds like a win: emit carbon here, pay someone to reduce it somewhere else and you’re off the hook.
